Cosmic Pop Persona
What kind of star are you?
A playful return to the internet personality quiz, with generative text and a luminous, shifting persona.
Meet the persona FROM THE ORIGINAL INSTALLATIONMEET A VERSION OF YOURSELF
A question.
A little recognition.
What kind of star are you?
The question offers four colours to choose from. A small, familiar choice becomes an invitation to imagine yourself in the language of the work.
Something to recognise yourself in.
The generated reading offers cosmic traits and playful descriptions. It is part of the artwork: a way to imagine yourself, rather than a personality assessment.
A persona takes shape.
Text sits alongside a luminous visual form. Move between these details to see how the interface brings a persona into view.
Original quiz and result screens, with a visual persona from the project presentation. Choose a detail to explore; this is documentation of the artwork.
A familiar invitation
Enter your name. Answer a question. Meet a version of yourself. Cosmic Pop Persona takes the familiar rhythm of an internet personality quiz and gives it a cosmic, generative twist.
From answers to a persona
The interface brings together generated questions, playful traits and a colourful visual response. The personality reading is part of an artwork: an invitation to imagine and recognise yourself in something unexpected.
Giving the questions a structure
The development excerpt below shows how I turned generated text into something the interface could use: a question, four answers and a little encouragement. The response is parsed and the batch length checked before the questions are returned. It is an early implementation record from the work.
On show at COMPUTALA
Presented in January 2025 with New Media Art Club at LCB Depot. The project brings early internet nostalgia into an interactive web installation. The original presentation shows the invitation, the questions and the resulting persona.
