Pixel Peranakan
A game about restoring a Peranakan home and its family memories, made with Julia Tay.
ABOUT / HI THERE!
I’m Timothi, an interactive developer and HCI researcher. I make games and interactive experiences, and I’m doing a practice-based PhD in Social XR.
I make and publish work as Timothi Ellim. You’ll also find me as Timothi Lim on research papers and project credits.
Making gives me a way to work through questions about how people interact. I can build something, try it with people, and return to the question with more to go on. That is how my work as a developer connects with my research.
I’ve worked in game development and emerging technology, including at The Doodle People and HTech. I’m now bringing that experience into my PhD at De Montfort University, where I investigate how people cooperate and make sense of shared XR experiences.
I also make work under the name KOAIKOI. Through games, responsive environments and digital characters, I’m interested in what happens when something we have made begins to feel like a being with a presence of its own.
THREADS THROUGH MY PRACTICE
